The LEADERS’ SUMMIT ACADEMY is a hands-on leadership development experience using an alpine mountain environment where you will learn the following:
- Specific observable behaviours of resilient leaders
- Using your unique risk orientation profile to create high performing teams in the workplace
- How to break self-limiting beliefs
- Team dynamics that work for you
The LEADERS’ SUMMIT ACADEMY is a five-day learning expedition to trek, and scramble up the summit of Mt Kinabalu ( 4095m a.s.l ), the highest peak in Borneo. No previous alpine and technical climbing skills are required and participants receive the following:
- Detailed pre-trip preparation and information pack
- A personal validated QO2 ( OPPORTUNITIES vs. OBSTACLES Profile ) created by TMS Australia
- Facilitation of their personal and leadership learning outcomes, including a personal action plan
- All safety equipment needed to complete the Via Ferrata ( steel stairway ) option on the Kinabalu climb
- Meals at the Laban Rata guesthouse cafeteria at 3200m a.s.l.
- All land transfers, accommodation on the mountain at the Pendant Hut or similar
- Trained local safety officers on the Via Ferrata and Summit Climb
- Basic mountain trek insurance
- Summit certificate (upon completion of climb)
A key component to the LEADERS’ SUMMIT ACADEMY is the QO2 profile. The assessment tool is a validated and accurate assessment that measures your ability to assess risk. A Risk Quotient instrument, the Opportunities vs. Obstacles profile measures one’s ability to see opportunities, as well as obstacles (hence the name “ QO2”). Sub-elements that make up the overall measure are:
- motivational energy
- problem-solving mindsets
- propensity to find faults in yourself and others
- time focus
- optimism
UNIQUE VIA FERRATA OPTIONS ENHANCE YOUR TEAM CHALLENGE:
The LEADERS’ SUMMIT ACADEMY is enhanced by the inclusion of a safe but highly challenging ‘ via ferrata ’, or ‘ steel stairway’ segment of the summit programme. Clipped into a harness, and with guides, you will negotiate segments of the Kinabalu climb previously only accessible by expert mountaineers. Via ferratas originated in Europe in the 1920s to enable adventurous tourists to climb hitherto ‘unclimbable’ steep rock faces. Using segments of steel rungs, foot plates and cables, you will experience a unique team challenge where clarity of communication, and self-belief are key factors of a team success. The via ferrata on Kinabalu has just been built to international standards and is the world’s HIGHEST via ferrata of its kind.
LEADERS’ SUMMIT ACADEMY Highlights:
- unique five-day leadership and team development programme ( customisable )
- small group ( 10 minimum, 24 maximum )
